Finding an Expert Mechanic for Your Truck

Finding an Expert Mechanic

What is an Expert? An expert is a person with extensive knowledge  and/or ability based on research, experience or occupation in their field.  It  is said that it takes 10,000 hours to become an expert in any field but I believe for a mechanic that those hours are doubled to obtain that type of mastery. From the words of Albert Einstein, “Any fool can know.  The point is to understand.”   When a mechanic truly understands how each system works and how they all work together, an expert mechanic is born.

There are many systems working in a motor vehicle.  These systems are regularly updated by manufacturers to become more efficient or provide extensive features each year.  Regular education and new tools are required to stay up to date with regularly changing technology.

With that being said, if you are looking for a mechanic to fix your truck, it is recommended to locate a facility that specializes in all aspects of trucks.  Those facilities posses the proper tools and diagnostic equipment required to diagnose and fix your truck efficiently and effectively.  These facilities generally have diesel and gas technicians that have ASE certification.  For those who don’t know,  ASE Certification ( National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence) provides mechanics with certifications of mastery in all areas of mechanics.  (It’s similar to having a masters degree in a particular field)  These certifications, just like degrees, certify mastery in specific areas.  For example: Brakes, Diesel Engines, Suspensions, etc.

Truck mechanics, in particular, require more mastery of the mechanic field.   As trucks and equipment are much larger than a standard size car, so are the parts and tools used to fix them.  A good truck mechanic requires extensive knowledge of diesel engines, gas engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, preventative maintenance as well as the ability to ensure safety and performance of all the vehicles they work on.  These mechanics play an essential role for the construction, municipalities, and anything that requires a truck for transport.

So how do you determine if the mechanic you chose is a mechanic with that type of expertise?   It was also Albert Einstein who said, “The only source of knowledge is experience”.  Scott’s Mobile Repair has been in business for over 12 years specializing in all aspects of truck repair.  Owner, Scott Woodis, is an expert diesel and gas mechanic with over 20 years experience.  His team of expert technicians lead the industry servicing many businesses and municipalities located in Northern RI.  So if you are looking for an expert mechanic to service your truck, call Scott’s Mobile Repair.
